Zamfara Assembly Scraps EX Political Office Holders Pensions Allowances

Zamfara State House of Assembly has scrapped the payment of pensions and other entitlements to Former Governors, Deputy Governors, Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

The house passed the bill revoking the existing pension law for the state’s former leaders, amidst clash between Governor Bello Matawale and Former Governor Abdulaziz Yari.

Yari is demanding from the governor the payment of his n10 million monthly pension allowances

The house leader, Faruk Dosara who presented the bill, says the law which allows jumbo pensions to former leaders is detrimental to the interest of retired civil servants being owed their entitlements.

The states former political leaders, according to him, are collecting n700 million yearly as allowances which the economy could no longer sustain

The bill is to be sent to the governor for his assent..
