Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to promote national unity and true federalism, during his second term.
The Council, specifically wants Buhari to revisit the report of the El-Rufai committee on restructuring, set up by APC.
The Council’s Secretary General, Dr. Kunle Olajide, says Buhari in his reply to the congratulatory message sent to him, promises to give adequate attention to its proposal.
The proposal, according to him, suggests that Buhari should complete and implement the proposed restructuring of the country, as contained in the El-Rufai committee report, within the next four years.
For instance, the Council asks Buhari to return Nigeria to revenue generation, instead of revenue sharing, by allowing each Federating Unit to exploit and explore its resources.
The Federating Units in turn, according to YCE, will then pay agreed percentage of the exploited resources to the Federal Government, to run foreign affairs, defense, immigration and the customs.
