YAYI, Isiaka agree to work together on Ogun 2019 governorship

Ogun council asks House of Assembly to intervene in boundary disputes

Two major Ogun State governorship aspirants, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly called YAYI, and Prince Gboyega Isiaka, have agreed to work together, to ensure that Ogun West produce the state’s next governor.

Both aspirants, who are from Ogun West Senatorial District, announced the deal in Ilaro on Monday, at a meeting of the Ogun West Leaders Forum political dialogue.

Adeola who is an APC senator told the gathering he is ready to sacrifice his 2019 governorship ambition, to actualize the agenda of Ogun West to produce Ogun’s next governor.

He also promised to finance and made available his political machinery to support any aspirants chosen by the leaders, from the zone, while asking them not to allow external forces, to hijack the process of picking a consensus candidate for the zone.

Adeola said, “This time is Ogun West for governor. If I am the sacrificial lamb, I don’t care. We must come with an open mind because Yewa-Awori project is beyond any of us here. If we resolve to depend on God, we must tow the path of God and not that of man.

“We thank our former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and former governors Olusegun Osoba and Gbenga Daniel as well as the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for supporting Yewa-Awori for governor. But we want to appeal: don’t force anything down our throat.

“Let the leaders, elders and paramount ruler of Yewa land and the stakeholders decide for us. Those professing their love of Ogun West should allow Ogun West to produce their candidate and this time, we are ready to do it ourselves.”

He said, “This time we are determined and there is no amount of threat that can distract us. Our leaders and elders have been in this struggle for long but it is not over until it is over.

“If there is something left that we have not done, you just have to support us towards realizing this project. We all need our best materials wherever they are.”
