Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick, says he is optimistic the Super Eagles can reach the semi-final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, despite being in a tough group.
The Super Eagles, placed in Group D, will play alongside Argentina, Iceland and Croatia.
Speaking as a guest on CNN with anchor, Alex Thomas, Pinnick stated his belief that the Super Eagles will go a long way in Russia.
He said with the current crop of players, the Super Eagles are capable of matching any team because of their positive mentality.
“Our players captained by Mikel, who has demonstrated exemplary leadership, with the coach and of course indeed the support from all Nigerians, we want to believe we can do very well at the World Cup.”
He added “The players are patriotic, they love the green white green, they want to make the country proud. And the beauty about Nigeria is that we don’t just have a team for today, we have a team for tomorrow, we have a team for the next Nations Cup and we have a team for the next World Cup. Our team is peopled by youthfulness, a lot of energy which they want to burn.”
