Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has assured that the ongoing construction of an international airport at Wasinmi, near Abeokuta, the state capital, will be commissioned by February or March next year.
Amosun who gave the assurance, at the 2018 Ogun State Investors Forum, themed “Consolidating the gains, accelerating growth” at the June 12 Cultural Centre, in Abeokuta, said President Muhammadu Buhari is billed to will commission the airport project.
The Governor explained that federal government made provision for the completion of the federal airport project in the proposed 2018 budget.
He said the proposed airport will include a cargo airport.
Meanwhile, the governor also said his administration has constructed 15 bridges, 13 bridges, and 357.11 kilometre of roads, as well as rehabilitation of 3,125 kilometre of roads, across the state’s three senatorial districts, in the last seven years.
Speaking at the forum, finance minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, said the country was able to get out of recession because of the federal government pumped N19 billion into infrastructural projects in 2016, and N405 billion naira, in 2017.
She called for more investments by the private investors in the non-oil sector, especially in the construction of tomato and potato factories for export.
