VISA FREE TRAVEL: Turkey gives EU October deadline

Turkey has given the European Union the October deadline to grant Turks visa-free travel

Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu speaking in an interview with a German newspaper, asked the EU to forget the migrant deal that involves turkey stemming the flow of illegal migrants to the bloc, if it failed to do so at the expiration of the October deadline

Asked whether hundreds of thousands of refugees in turkey would head to Europe if the EU did not grant Turks visa freedom from October, he said talks with the EU are continuing but it’s clear that it is either all treaties are implemented at the same time or they should be jettisoned

Visa-free access to the EU – the main reward for Turkey’s collaboration in choking off an influx of migrants into Europe – has been subject to delays due to a dispute over Turkish anti-terrorism legislation and the crackdown after a failed coup.
