Scores of residents from communities in the Anka local government area in Zamfara State are now fleeing into the council’s headquarters, following attacks by armed bandits in the area.
Last Wednesday, the armed bandits attacked Kuru Kuru and Jarkuda villages in the area, leaving several people dead.
Waziri of Anka Emirate, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa, addressing newsmen in Anka, expressed concern over the trooping of people who are fleeing from the bandits from the neighbouring communities into the town.
The town, according to him, is now overpopulated by refugees due to the security situation in the area.
Troops and air force special forces had been deployed to the area to tackle the bandits, and had killed several of them.
Disturbed by the security situation in the axis, Governor Abdul Aziz Yari recently ordered security forces to shoot to kill anyone they found carrying arms in the state.
