Non-academic staff of federal universities have threatened to resume their suspended strike anytime from now.
Chairman of the joint action committee of the universities non-academic staff, Mr Ade Durojaiye, told newsmen in Akure, that the agreement signed with federal government five weeks ago to end strike by the non-academic staff, is yet to be implemented.
The agreement, according to him, covers the implementation of the judgement of the national industrial court on school teachers of universities schools, the payment of earned allowances, the shortfall in salaries and funding of university system.
He said that the national executive committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities will meet next week on the issue, while that of the non-academic staff of universities had met last week.
Durojaye said “I wish to inform the public that as at May 1, the Federal Government has not implemented the agreement freely entered into with the Unions.
“The National executive council of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), will be meeting next week where this issue will be exhaustively discussed and chart a way forward, NASU has taken a position last week at its National Executive Council meeting. ”
