The Governors in the South-South region are to meet vice President Yemi Osinbajo in June, to device ways of ending the renewed attacks by militants on the oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta region.
Governor Onyesom Wike who made this known while receiving the military high command led by Chief of Defence Staff, Leuitenant General Gabriel Olonisakin, at the Rivers State Government house in Port Harcourt.
He said the economy will collapse if the attacks are not stopped.
Wike who said the south South Governors had brainstormed on the issue, described the renewed attacks as nothing but economic sabotage.
The Governor said the attacks had reduced Nigeria’s oil production level, and the revenue coming into the coffers of the State Governments, including Rivers State whose monthly revenue allocation has dropped from about N7 billion last year to below N4 billion.
