Members of the House of Representatives have passed a resolution inviting President Muhammadu Buhari to address them on the cause of escalating security crisis in the country
Before the resolution, there was an uproar during the plenary over a motion seeking the invitation of Buhari on rising insecurity, in the wake of beheading of 43 rice farmers by boko haram in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State
Members of the house were sharply divided on the motion moved by members from Borno State
A member, Saloni Ahmed moved the motion, which also called for the declaration of a state of emergency on security, on behalf of 10 others members from Borno state
Attempts by the speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila and house majority leader, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa to kill the motion, was rebuffed by several members who insisted that the motion be adopted
The speaker had to douse tension during the plenary by calling for a close-door session to resolve the crisis The house eventually passed a resolution inviting Buhari to address it on the state of security
