UNPAID SALARIES: Ekiti Civil Servants on Strike

Civil servants in Ekiti State have grounded state government’s activities on the first day of their indefinite strike to back up their demands.

Most of the government offices in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, as well as, public schools and hospitals were shut down by the striking workers.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, the trade union congress and the joint national public service negotiating council which jointly organized the strike said it would continue until the state government meet their demands.

Some of the demands include the estimated N512 million deducted from salaries for the month of December 2015, the release of the state monthly internally generated revenue and the April 2015 audit of the workforce, the payment of arrears of salaries, pensions and gratuities
