UNICEF Worried Over Open Defecation In Ekiti

United Nations children education fund (UNICEF) has put the number of residents in Ekiti state still practicing open defecation at 1.4 million out of its over two million population.

Unicef chief field officer in Ondo State, Tusher Rane, made this known in Ado Ekiti during the open defecation free celebration in 54 communities in Ekiti west and Gbonyin Local government Areas.

The UN Agency explains the state is ranked second in Nigeria in open defecation, because of the high level of open defecation in the state.

He, however, thanks the State Government for promising to make water available for all households in the State.
