An Ogun State governorship aspirant, Oladipupo Adebutu, has said it is turn of Ogun East senatorial district to produce the next governor of the state in 2019.
Adebutu, who is a member of the House of Representatives, faulted the clamour for the 2019 governorship by Ogun West senatorial district.
The lawmaker, who is representing Remo Federal Constituency on the platform of PDP, explained that Ogun East backed candidates from Ogun West, during the state’s 2011 and 2015 governorship polls, by not fielding candidates.
He, however lamented that, Ogun West voted against candidates from the area on the two occasions and supported the incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun of APC, from Ogun Central.
Speaking on a Rockcity news programme “Daybreak Show”, Adebutu said, Ogun West should pay back the Ogun east for supporting them in 2011 and 2015, by backing Ogun east for the 2019 governorship.
On the leadership crisis rocking the state PDP, Adebutu explained that, the recent appeal court ruling in Ado Ekiti, which declared Eddy Olafeso’s faction of PDP, as the authentic south west zonal executive committee of the party, had resolved all issues within the party.
According to him, the PDP state secretariat in Abeokuta, in control of the Adebayo Dayo-led state executive committee, loyal to Senator Buruji Kashamu, is a rented apartment, which does not belong to the party.
He explained that, the Sikirurah Ogundele-led state executive committee, which is the faction recognized by the PDP national headquarters, has been reaching out to the other faction led by Bayo Dayo, to unite all members ahead of the 2019 poll.
