The National Assembly is considering exempting some of the government agencies requiring emergency situation, including the National Health Insurance Scheme, from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) of the Federal Government.
House of Representatives Health Committee Chairman, Chike Okafor, and his Senate counterpart, Lanre Tejuosho, who made this known, at the NHIS management retreat in Kaduna, said funds needed by some of the critical agencies for emergency situation are trapped in TSA.
Okafor, represented by his deputy, Mohammed Usman, promised to initiate a bill when the house resumes plenary, to exclude NHIS and some other government agencies from TSA.
Tejuoso, supporting him said the senate also is ready to introduce a bill to exempt NHIS and other agencies with critical need for fund from the TSA.
