Truck crushes two to death near Owode Yewa in Ogun

Ogun council asks House of Assembly to intervene in boundary disputes

A seven year old boy and a roadside vulcanizer have been crushed to death, in the Yewa axis of Ogun State.

The truck rammed over them at Oke Ore, on Oota-Owode road, on Tuesday morning.

Spokesman of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Commander Babatunde Akinbiyi, said that driver of the truck, which was heading from Oota towards Owode, lost control of the vehicle.

The vulcanizer, according to him, died on the spot, while the boy died later at a hospital he was rushed to after the accident.

The TRACE commander said the driver of the truck had been arrested by police from the Owode Police Division.

“The truck (driver) lost control and ran over the roadside vulcaniser. The area is tense at the moment. Operatives have to move back a bit as soldiers and police officers are being contacted.

“The driver and his motor boy were injured and taken to Iya Kayode Hospital at Oke Ore while one of the presumed dead has been taken away by his family,” he said.
