Troops repel Boko Haram attack, kill 25

Two soldiers have been killed and seven others injured during attacks by elements of the Boko Haram forces on the position of the army 119 task force battalion at Kangarwa in the northern parts of Borno state.

The troops later repelled the attack, after engaging the terrorists in an exchange of gunfire for about three hours on Tuesday night.

Army Spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, said 25 bodies of the invading terrorists were recovered after the fighting, along with two rocket propelled grenade tubes, two 60 millimeter mortar tube, two machine guns, 12 AK-47 rifles and one light machine gun.

The location of the fighting which was recently recaptured by troops from Boko Haram is regarded as strategic, because it was then being used by terrorists to enter Borno State from Chad and Niger Republic.
