An unspecified number of troops are missing following attack by boko haram fighters on an army location at Gashigar on the country’s border with Niger Republic.
Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, in a statement, said 13 other soldiers were injured in the attack, which he said forced troops to retreat, after heavy fighting with a large number of boko haram fighters.
He said troops had launched a massive search for their missing colleagues and to clear the area of terrorists.
Meanwhile, chief of army staff, Lieutenant general Tukur Buratai, has said that boko haram fighter had been chased away from the Nigerian Territory.
Buratai who made the clarification while unveiling a project at the Abalti barrack of the Nigerian Army in Lagos, said latest attacks by the insurgents were taking place around the lake chad basin from the neighbouring countries.
He said that Nigerian army is working with the multinational task force to address the threat.
