Troops intercept Boko Haram attacks on Maiduguri

Troops have repelled attempt by Boko Haram fighters to attack a village on the outskirt of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, said five of the Boko Haram fighters were killed during the encounter on Monday night.

He listed weapons captured from the terrorists as including two AK-47 rifles, one general purpose machine gun, a mortar tube, on FLN rifle, a dane gun and several round of ammunition.

Usman said the troops also captured two AK-47 rifle magazine and two FLN rifle magazine.
