Armed herdsmen have invaded some communities in Kogi State, leaving several people dead.
Troops and mobile policemen had been deployed to repel the attackers.
The herders, who attacked Oganinugwu, in the Dekina local government area, also set houses ablaze.
They also attacked Obakume, Idirisu Oji and Ayojeju Ikbosa, in the Omali local government area.
People in the axis are fleeing to safe parts of the state to escape attack.
The state acting police commissioner, Kuryar Bala, confirms the attack.
He said more policemen are being drafted to repel the attacks.
