Tramadol: NDLEA awaits customs clearance to inspect containers

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it is awaiting clearance from the Nigeria customs service, to inspect the 39 containers suspected to contain banned drugs at the Apapa ports complex in Lagos metropolis.

The Agency Spokesman, Jonah Achenu, said the containers are part of the 62 at the port on its watch list since November 2017.

Last week, 23 of the 62 container, after a joint NDLEA, NAFDAC and customs service were found to contain 581 million tablets of banned tramadol tablets.

Since then, the NDLEA spokesman, alleges that customs has not positioned the remaining 39 containers for joint inspection of their contents.
