Top Ogun PDP leaders defect to APC ahead of 2019 polls campaign season

Several Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, including Senator Lekan Mustapha and a former minister, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Ishola, have defected to APC, ahead of campaign season for the 2019 polls.

Other defecting PDP leaders were former deputy governor Rafiu Ogunleye and former deputy speaker in Ogun State House of Assembly, Remmy Hassan.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun received the defecting politicians at a ceremony held at the Mitros Hall in the Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.

Amosun assured that they will not be discriminated against, if they are interested in seeking elective positions in the coming polls in the state.

All the APC members, whether they are old or new members, according to the governor, belong to a big family and have mutual understanding and respect for each other.

One of the defectors, Remi Hassan, explained that he returned to APC because of the performance of the party both at the state and national levels.

Also, Senator Mustapha urged the governor to consider the payment of outstanding allowances of past political office holders in the state.
