Three suspected cultists have been shot dead, during clashes between two rival cult groups in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
The bloody clash occurred last Sunday.
Spokesman of Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi says, the incident occurred as members of two cultist groups, Eiye and Aye engaged themselves in a supremacy battle.
Oyeyemi says Officers of the tactical units, including Police Mobile Force, Anti-Kidnapping/Cultist Unit, as well as the Special Anti Robbery Squad [SARS] were promptly deployed to restore normalcy to the town.
He lists items recovered from the suspects as including parcels of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, expended cartridges, and other incriminating items.
The State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Ilyasu, according to him, has directed the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, Anti-Kidnapping and Cultist Unit to conduct tactical and forensic investigations into the case and arrest those involved in the clash.
