TCN Begins Repairs Of Collapsed Electricity Grid

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has begun repairing the national electricity grid which collapsed on Wednesday’s morning

The gradual repair, according to the spokesperson of the agency, Ndidi Mbah, is restoring power supply disrupted by the total collapse of the grid

As at 7 pm on Wednesday, electricity is being restored to Abuja, Eko, Ikeja and Ibadan electricity distribution companies

The electricity generation had dropped from over 4,000 megawatts on Wednesday’s morning to 260 megawatts in the afternoon, when the collapsed grid prevented 20 power plants from generating electricity

Mbah explains that the recovery of the collapsed grid, started from Shiroro power plant to Katampe transmission station in Abuja, and Delta power plant to Benin transmission station

The cause of the total collapse of the grid, according to Mbah is being investigated
