A top leader of the militants terrorizing residents living close to the creeks in Ogun and Lagos states have been killed by troops of the joint military task force in Ondo state.
A soldier was killed and three others injured in the clash with members of the gang at their base at Ajakpa in the Ese Odo local government area of Ondo state.
The militant leader identified as Ossy Ibori, according to report, opened fire on the troops, leading to his being killed, while other militants jumped into the waters.
Lagos state police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, confirming the incident, said the militants engaging in armed robbery and kidnapping in the creeks in Ogun and Lagos states, had relocated to their base in Ondo state since the operation to flush them out began.
Owoseni said the militant leader killed is the major coordinator of several high profile murders and kidnap in Ogun and Lagos states.
Spokesman of the joint military task force, Major Abubakar Abdullahi, said the killed militant led the recent attacks in the Ikorodu axis in which four police officers and an army captain were killed.
