Suspected Cultists Attack At Birthday Party In Ogun, Kill Celebrant’s Dad

Four suspected members of a cult group have been arrested for allegedly stabbing one person to death during a birthday party in Ijoko axis of Ogun State.

Two others were also injured in the attack.

The incident occurred on Friday night at 34 Oyedele close, Abule Lemode area of Ijoko, when the suspected cultists stabbed the father of the birthday celebrant, Saibu Azeez on his head. The suspects, Opeyemi Olalekan, Azeez Ologundudu, Emanuel Omoboriowo and Anigilaje Babatunde, were arrested following a distress call received from the female celebrant identified as Oluwatoye.

Spokesman of Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspects during interrogation allegedly confessed to be members of a cult group.

The celebrant, according to Oyeyemi, alleged that the suspected cultists stormed the venue of the party at about 2 am with broken bottles and unleashed terror on those in attendance.

The Police spokesman explained that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased is likely to be a member of a rival cult group and his assailants came on a likely reprisal attack.

The body of the dead victim has been deposited in the morgue for post-mortem examination.
