Supreme Court okays Ondo aspirant to challenge Akeredolu’s election

The Supreme Court has dismissed an application by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to stop his rival in the 2017 Ondo APC governorship primaries, Olusegun Abraham from challenging his winning the APC ticket.

The Governor had filed the application to challenge the judgement of an Appeal Court, upholding an order of a Federal High Court, favouring Abraham who was an APC governorship aspirant.

The Appeal Court had permitted Abraham to serve the Governor through substituted means, court documents on the 2017 APC governorship primaries.

Abraham in his petition is challenging the outcome of the APC primaries which favoured the governor.

Justice John Okoro who read the unanimous judgement of the five member panel of the Supreme Court awarded a cost of N500,000 against the governor, payable to Abraham.
