Super Eagles play draw with Cameroon, move closer to 2018 World Cup qualification

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have played one-all draw with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the 2nd leg of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying game.

Super Eagles opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Odion Ighalo’s pass was cleared to the Belgium-based Moses Simon, who put the ball behind the Cameroon goalkeeper.

Nigerians failed to convert most of their chances before Cameroon later equalised from the spot kick in the 75 minute, due to the reckless challenge by Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, who ran out of his line to challenge, Djoum Arnaud.

With the result, Cameroon are out of the World Cup qualifying race, while the Super Eagles only needs a win in the remaining two games against Algeria and Zambia, to qualify for the next year World Cup in Russia.
