Sule Lamido writes PDP, kicks off presidency race for 2019

Police arrest Jigawa ex-governor Sule Lamido

Former Governor Sule Lamido has declared interest in the presidential ticket of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the 2019 poll.

Lamido, in a letter to all PDP members, said he is ready to fly the party’s flag if considered.

The former governor said he is aware that he is not the only capable member of PDP seeking the presidential ticket, but hopes the race for the ticket will be fair, open, transparent and credible, to pick the right candidate.

Nigeria, according to Lamido, has no alternative to PDP in 2019, which according to him, will be a defining moment in Nigeria’s political evolution.

He said that PDP in 2019 must lead Nigeria back into a bright, progressive and innovative future.

Lamido in a statement issued by his media aide, Umar Kyari, lamented that the nation has departed from the dreams of its founding fathers.

“Today, 57 years after the independence of our dear country, can we in all sincerity claim to have achieved the dream of our founding fathers? Where did we fail and from where did we begin to fail?

“Nigeria with its natural endowment and human capacity cannot be forgiven for being otherwise. We cannot even demonstrate our ability and capacity to meet domestic, regional and global challenges which currently seems to overwhelm us.”

“The PDP will and must lead the nation back into a bright, progressive, and innovative future,” he said.
