The Olori Omoba of Ijebuland, Otunba Subomi Balogun, has dismissed speculation that he is scheming to position his son, Ladi Balogun, as the next Awujale.
He says it is a taboo in Yorubaland, to scheme for succession for an Oba, who is hale and hearty.
Balogun, who is the founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), and Head of Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu Ode, expresses concern over the speculation in social media.
The Olori Omoba, in a statement by Oluwaseun Oduneye, says the rumour thickens after the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, during the recent Ojude Oba day, warned Ijebus to prevent the throne of Awujale from being hijacked by money bags, after he might have joined his ancestors.
Otunba Balogun frowns at what he regards as the characterization of the Awujale’s warning, saying it is an attempt to create crisis between him and the Awujale, which according to him, is still hale and hearty.
