South West Farmers Cry Out Over Inadequate Rainfall

Farmers in south west region have warned that inadequate rainfall this year, is posing a major challenge to food production in the region.

Oyo state chairman of all farmers association of Nigeria, John Olateru, says in Ibadan, that most of the crops planted this year by farmers in the region, have dried up due to lack of rainfall.

The situation, according to him, is compounded by the scarcity of hybrid seeds which according to him are not affordable when they are available. He calls on governments and Nigeria seeds council, to come to the aid of farmers with hybrid seeds, fertilizers and chemicals which are highly subsidized.
