Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) said it has finalize plans to revive the 23 industrial development centres (IDCS) in Nigeria.
The Agency’s Director General, Dr Dikko Umaru Radda, made this known during the inauguration of the consulting firm that will undertake the feasibility study of the centres.
He explained that the focus of reviving the moribund development centres is to convert them to enterprise clusters.
Radda said the consultants are expected to provide possible solutions and final draft on how to go about reviving them.
According to him, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has promised to finance the revival of the 30 year old centres, and upgrade them into enterprise clusters as they operate all over the world.
He explained that the final report by the consulting firm will be available by the end of may.
