Sheriff takes over PDP National HQ

PDP crisis: Sheriff relocates to Wadata Plaza on Friday

*Makarfi faction asks police to eject him

The crisis in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued to worsen, as Senator Ali Modu Sheriff moved into the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

The PDP national secretariat has been shut down by the police since May 2016, over the party’s leadership crisis.

Sheriff who was recently confirmed by an appeal court as PDP national chairman, took over Wadata Plaza on Thursday evening, with scores of supporters and top official of his PDP faction.

His take-over of the secretariat took the Ahmed Makarfi faction unaware, as he had earlier promised to move in today.

Barely an hour after, the Ahmed Markafi PDP asked the force headquarters to deploy policemen to flush Ali Modu Sheriff and his officials from the party national headquarters.

The faction’s spokesman, Dayo Adeyeye in a statement said that Sheriff’s take over of the secretariat is illegal, unconstitutional and a criminal act.

Adeyeye accused Sheriff of breaking into the secretariat, because, according to him,  the keys into the complex are in the possession of PDP Board of Trustees.
