Shell shuts down Trans-Niger Pipeline

Shell says it has shut down one of its two major pipelines, the Trans Niger Pipeline which take Bonny Light Crude for export.

The affected pipeline transport 180,000 barrels of Bonny Light Crude daily to Bonny Export Terminal and natural gas supply to the Afam Sixth Power Plant.

The Company Spokesman, Precious Okolobo, said the shutdown of the pipeline followed the discovery of a leak at Gio in the Ogoniland in Rivers State.

The other major pipeline taking the bonny light, the Nember Creek Trunk line is still operating normally.
