Senate Seeks Review Of ECOWAS Free Movement Protocol

The senate has asked federal government to demand the immediate review of the ECOWAS protocol on the free movement of people to check the influx of criminal elements into Nigeria

The senators also asks the security agencies to deploy drones to mount surveillance on forests to keep tab on camps of armed bandits

The senate made the call after adopting a resolution by Senator Chukwuka Utazi, following a vigorous debate on a motion moved by Senator Ajayi Borofice on the deteriorating security situation in the country

The National Security Adviser and the new service chiefs were also asked to rejig the security architecture and the disposition of security forces for more effective response to security situations

The senators also want the state governors to implement the national livestock transformation plan to reduce farmers-herders conflicts
