The senate president, Ahmad Lawan, has accused the elites of being behind the calls for the breakup of Nigeria
Lawan, however, said that majority of people, who are ordinary Nigerians, still believe in one Nigeria, and opposed the call for secession
The senate president speaking while addressing newsmen at his country home in Yobe State says those behind the agitations are in minority
He describes them as disgruntled elites, bent on satisfying their self-serving interest to the detriment of majority of Nigerians.
According to the senate president, the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable, despite the tensions in the country
But Lawan explains that there should be deliberate moves to address the grievances of the aggrieved members of the elites calling for the Break up of Nigeria
