The Senate has resolved to write to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, over the judgement of a Federal High Court on the disputed amended 2010 Electoral Act bill.
The court has restrained the National Assembly from overriding the veto of the bill by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Senate took the decision to write the Chief Justice, following a motion raised by the Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio.
Akpabio, while moving the motion, said the court’s judgement is an abuse of the principle of the separation of powers.
The National Assembly, in objecting President Buhari’s rejection of the bill, had threatened to override his veto of the bill and nine others.
