Senate vote against devolution of powers to States

The Senate has called for the declaration of a state of emergency in states experiencing serious security crisis.

The states, include Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, and Zamfara.

The Senators made the call during the plenary on Thursday, following a motion by Senator George Akume, on the ongoing killings in Benue State.

Like their counterparts in the House of Representatives, the Senators invite President Muhammadu Buhari to address them on the worsening security crisis in Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa and Zamfara states.

The senators also queried the competence of the nation’s security chiefs to stop the killings.
