Senate Considers Death Penalty For Convicted Kidnappers

The senate is seeking a death penalty for convicted kidnappers to tackle the growing cases of abduction in several parts of the country, particularly, the south east and south regions.

The senate decided to initiate legislation to this effect, after considering the report of its joint committees on police affairs, national security and intelligence on kidnapping and ransome taking.

One of the major contributors during the consideration of the report, canvassed for a death penalty for anyone convicted of kidnapping.

He was seconded by Senator Dino Melaye, after the senators unanimously approved a  motion for the enactment of a law prescribing capital punishment for kidnapping
