Scrap Security Vote for Governors, Says Ribadu

Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has suggested measures to effectively tackle official corruption in the country.

Ribadu whose tenure at EFCC saw the jailing of a serving Governor and Inspector General of Police for corruption, called for the scrapping of security votes, abolition of cash transactions, scrapping of subsidies, and the criminalization of extra budgetary expenditure.

The former EFCC chairman who spoke on the issue at the 2016 annual management course of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) in Abuja, also called for sanctions, and a comprehensive reform of the Judiciary to fight corruption.

Ribadu expressed concern that Nigerians always celebrate convicted corrupt officials and criminals.
