Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has pleaded with political leaders in the country to stop heating up the polity, ahead of the forthcoming polls.
He asked leaders at all level to ensure moderation, decorum and respect in their speeches and utterances in the period towards the polls.
Saraki, welcoming senators back to the plenary, urged candidates not to regard the polls as do-or-die, and to be mindful that there must be a country after the polls.
The senate president said, while candidates for the polls promise to offer services, Nigerians have the right to decide who to represent them at all levels of governance.
On the performance of the eighth senate, Saraki said, it passed 257 bills by the end of 2018, which according to him, is the highest by any senate in Nigeria.
