The Congress of University Academic staff has directed its members to begin enrolling into the integrated payroll and personnel information system of the federal government.
The APEX University lecturer body, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had already rejected the enrollment into IPPIS as ordered by the presidency, and ordered Universities lecturers not to register.
But the national steering committee of the congress of university academic staff, ordered lecturers who are its members to enroll into the payroll system.
The national coordinator, Doctor Niyi Sunmola, says the decision was reached at a meeting of the congress, and a meeting with finance minister, during which the issue of peculiarity of academic in the operation of IPPIS was discussed.
Sunmola says the minister assures that federal government will always consider the peculiarities of the universities academic community in the implementation of the IPPIS.
