House of Representatives has approved the creation of two new State Constituencies in Benue State.
The two new Constituencies, Guma and Agasha, were carved out of Guma State Constituency.
The approval followed a request from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the alteration of the Guma State Constituency to two constituencies.
A motion raised by some of the members that the alteration should be extended to their states was defeated.
The Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, explains that the alteration of the Guma State Constituency was based on the judgement of the Supreme Court.
