Nigerians have backed the sting operation of the Department of the State Service (DSS), in which some Judges suspected to be corrupt, were arrested in some states and Federal Capital Territory.
Seven judges, including two Supreme Court Justices and a State Chief Judge, were arrested during the dawn raid, and huge fund, including local and foreign currencies were recovered from three of them by DSS operatives.
Question posed to the listeners on the issue during a Rockcity 101.9 FM programme: “Quick Take” is: “Do you think the DSS action is justifiable?.
Forty-eight out of the fifty-four listeners representing 89% of the callers who responded to the question through phone calls, short message and Twitter, supported the arrest with “YES”
Only six of the listeners representing 11 percent of the callers opposed the arrest of the Judges.
Most of the listeners who supported the arrest, commended President Buhari for the move, with one of them, Doctor Ebenezer Nkom, saying it is the best thing Buhari has done since he assumed office
Another of their argument was that corruption in the judicial sector is the source of the Nigeria’s problem which requires drastic approach like such arrest.
Some of those who opposed the Judges arrest particularly Pastor Sola Makinde said the DSS ought to have followed the due process.
