Senate asks FG to conduct Fresh Census in 2018

Senate promises to deliver 2017 budget bill to the Presidency, latest Wednesday, 17th May, 2017.

The Senate has assured that the 2017 Appropriation Bill will be sent to the Presidency latest on Wednesday, for the assent of acting President, Yemi Osinbajo.

The National Assembly passed the N7.4 trillion appropriation bill last Thursday.

The Senate media and public affairs committee chairman, Sabi Abdullahi, during Tuesday plenary, says the bill is still undergoing legislative procedure.

He explained that, the appropriation committee, since the passage of the bill has been authenticating its details to ensure that the correct bill is the one that will be transmitted to the Presidency.

Abdullahi said, “We passed the budget last week Thursday. Let us get this very clear: after a budget is passed, the appropriation committee must do authentication. The authentication means that it is not any document that should fly around; there must be something that will show that this is the main budget that we passed. If you are familiar with our procedures, you will see that the budget always carries some signatures.”
