Political Appointees Salaries Slashed:
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has temporarily slashed his salary and that of his deputy by 50 per cent to cope with dwindling revenue caused by Covid-19 pandemic.
The 50 per cent salary cut is also extended to all members of his cabinet, and other political appointees.
Information commissioner, Muyiwa Olomilua, who announced this in a statement, says civil servants are excluded from the salaries cut.
The proceeds from the salaries cut, according to him, will be channelled towards the execution of development projects in the state.
Earlier, governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State had cut salaries of himself and other top government officials to fund the state’s anti-covid-19 expenditure.
