Special police teams are now searching for a former minister, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, who was abducted by gunmen along Igbogila road in the Yewa axis of Ogun State.
The politician was abducted along with her security aides on her way back from her farm. Spokesman of the state police command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the command received the report of the incident Wednesday evening, and swung into action immediately.
Adejobi said the state police commissioner had dispatched five special police teams to track the gunmen and rescue the former minister.
Also, commander of the special anti-robbery team and anti-kidnapping squad had moved to the Yewa axis to coordinate the operation.
Meanwhile, Governor Ibikunle Amosun has called for the immediate release of the abducted chieftain of the all progressives’ congress, APC in Ogun state, senator Iyabode Anisulowo, without any condition attached. Amosun in a statement signed by his senior special assistant on media, Adejuwon Soyinka, described the incident, as shocking and disturbing”.
The governor, however, assured residents of the state of their safety, saying the security agents are on the trail of the kidnappers. Amosun while saying that the state cannot tolerate criminals, especially kidnappers, promised that everything will be done to rescue senator Anisulowo and her aide
