Police Say No Attack On Soyinka’s Home

Soyinka Warns Nigerians Against Another Civil War

Police have dismissed social media reports of attacks by herders on the residence of the Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital

The state police command accuses those behind the report as mischief makers who are peddling fake news

According to the police in a statement by its spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, there was no invasion or attack on Soyinka’s residence

Oyeyemi explains that one Kazim Sorinola, an indigene of Ijeun in Abeokuta who is into cattle rearing business, had recruited a Fulani, Auwalu Mohammed, to take care of the cattle

He says that the fulani had told Sorinola that one of the cow was missing, which led to a search for the missing cattle, during which Soyinka, who was driving out, cautioned the herder against moving his cattle close to his residence

Following the development, Oyeyemi says that divisional police officer at Kemta Idiaba raced to the scene and invited the herder and the owner of the cattle where they were interrogated
