Police have rescued two Chinese nationals from kidnappers at Odeda, near Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
Spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi who made this known in Abeokuta, the state capital, said the expatriates were rescued on Wednesday.
Oyeyemi said the Chinese, Shen Ximing and Wei Futang were abducted by some gunmen last Thursday while working on a quarry in Odeda ,
A police team comprising of men of the anti-kidnapping unit and federal special anti-robbery squad acting on a tip off were immediately deployed after the gunmen who abandoned their victims and ran away after engaging in a gun duel with police at their hideout.
Oyeyemi said the two foreigners who were rescued unhurt at a bush path near Odeda village, have been handed over to their company and were recuperating at an undisclosed hospital.
The spokesman said a 31-year-old, Olabimpe Tejumola was also rescued by the team, after she was kidnapped at Mowe, in the Obafemi Owode Local government area of the state, last week Wednesday.
Oyeyemi said the state Police Commissioner, Ahmed Illiyasu has appealed to members of the public to stop encouraging kidnappers by paying ransom.
