Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has assured that any operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), indicted for violating human rights, professional misconduct or extra-judicial killing, will be penalized.

It said the allegations against the operatives are still being compiled by the force public relations department, for further investigations and action.

Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of operations, Joshak Habila, made this known, while addressing members of police public relations committees, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The committee members had earlier staged a rally in Abuja, to support the retention of SARS, as a critical unit of the police, in fighting armed robbers.

The Deputy Inspector General said the Inspector General of Police is already re-branding SARS.
