Police nab three girls, eight suspected cultists in Ogun

Eleven suspected cultists, including three girls, have been rounded up by police in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

The suspects are named by the Police as Miss Adesina Aminat, Miss Deun Demuyiwa, and Miss Kehinde Adunoye, all aged 18 years, as well as, Abayomi Agbefolaju, Alaba Ayoade, and Olamide Rasheed.

Others are Teniola Imoleayo, Hakeem Ayoola, Olaoye Gbolahan, Adebayo Julius and Taiwo Sadiq.

Spokesman of the state Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi says the suspects belong to a cultist gang that has been terrorizing Ijeja area of the city.

The suspects, according to him, were arrested last Sunday, at their hideout as they were preparing for a fresh attack.

The police image maker lists items captured from the suspects at their hideout as including one UTC axe, one UTC cutlass, blue berets, various charms and other dangerous arms.

“The commissioner of police CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered that the suspects be transferred to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for proper investigation and prosecution,” he said.

“He therefore warned that the state will never be conducive for anybody who wants to hide under any cult group to wreak havoc on innocent citizens of the state,” Oyeyemi said.
